With influences ranging from Aphex Twin to Jeff Mills, Martyn Hare has a unique hybrid sound that defies categorization and refuses to brand as one thing or another. New Rave? Techno Bass? Keep guessing! This eclectic blend of electronic sounds is carried through all his productions and DJ sets, combining the soulful with the truly dark.
While living in Leeds, UK, Martyn promoted and was resident of ‘Audio Science’, an uncompromising underground dance night that was repeatedly torn up by explosive sets from some of the leading names in techno. It was through these nights that he grabbed the attention of a number of labels, including Glen Wilson and Mike Humphries’ Punish, and later Ben Long’s Potential Recordingz. It was Martyn’s first two releases on Potential that earned him worldwide respect, scoring a “Top 5 Tunes of the Moment” review in Ministry magazine and numerous plays on international radio. With major releases on Tronic and Recycled Loops as well as managing and producing for his own labels Tremors and Emetic, numerous sessions for BBC Radio 1 have followed, plus a two month reign with the top voted mix on dj-sets.com. Now DJing and performing his Emetic Live and Classics Live sets across the world, Martyn Hare is considered amongst the most interesting and promising producers around.
