After 20 years as a member of the Performing Rights Society (PRS), John Truelove is upping the ante and standing for election to the PRS board. A songwriter, a publisher, Truelove Music CEO, founder and chair of the PRS Dance Committee and an elected member of the Music Publishers Association, IMPEL and AFEM Executive boards, few people are better placed to take on the tough fights ahead for PRS. Here’s why John is standing:

December 10th saw Truelove artists GusGus play a secret show at Kraftwerk Berlin (pictured above) as part of Neuland. The multi-sensory experience featured interactive technology, experimental cuisine, visual arts and next level performance across three platforms of a disused power station in vibrant East Berlin. A huge congratulations to Truelove Music’s Timo Maas who has been nominated for a Grammy alongside James Teej for Best Remixed Recording! The nomination is for the duo’s work on Paul McCartney and Wings’ track ‘Nineteen Hundred and Eighty-Five’, originally released in 1974 on the album ‘Band On The Run’. Renowned make-up artist to the stars Charlotte Tilbury has launched her debut fragrance Scent Of A Dream with an online video featuring ‘You Got The Love’ by The Source feat. Candi Staton and starring the stunning as ever Kate Moss. The video was devised by artist and director Antoine Wagner and directed by Baillie Walsh and sees Kate and actor/model Nathan Mitchell partying to the Truelove Music-published soundtrack. Released in 1986, the seminal record was originally produced by Larry Heard AKA Mr. Fingers and Robert Owens under the Fingers Inc. moniker. Truelove Music founder John Truelove, performing as The Source, produced and co-wrote the original ‘You Got The Love’ 1991, 1997, 2005 hits featuring Candi Staton which was more recently covered by Florence & The Machine.
John has been collaborating closely with the brand and says of the Coca Cola hook-up “It has been fascinating, exhilarating and sometimes exasperating, but it has opened up my eyes to how much we in the music industry have to offer creatives in other media – especially with our deeper understanding of current music culture and how a song is likely to work in the hands of different artists.”
Following its first phase across terrestrial TV, YouTube, Twitter, Facebook and Instagram with the hashtag #ReasonsToBelieve it was rolled out through all media across Northern and Western Europe during 2014.

Also known as Sam La More, Littlemore is an Australian record producer songwriter and recording artist working in Hollywood, Sydney and London. He is best known as one half of Tonite Only and his productions with Gwen Stefani, including her debut solo hit “What You Waiting For?”. His production work with Grammy / Ivor Novello Award winning songwriter and producer Rick Nowels can be heard on Nelly Furtado’s album ‘Loose’. The Potebelleez huge single Don’t Hold Back was a Littlemore co-write and co-production. Forthcoming is work with Pnau and Parachute Youth
Florence and the Machine recorded a cover version of John Truelove’s Now Voyager version of You Got The Love in 2008 for indie label Moshi Moshi. Subsequently signed to Island/Universal, it charted (top 10) at the end of 2009, helping to propel Florence’s Lungs album to multi-platinum status, and leading to the famous Brits live mash-up performance with Dizzee Rascal. The resulting release rose to #2 in the UK national charts.
Since then the song’s already impressive list of usages has stretched ever further and wider including commercials for international brands such as Mitsubishi, Vodaphone, Avon Cosmetics, numerous TV licences including X-Factor, America’s Got Talent, The Greatest Loser, So You Think You Can Dance, and games licences for Sony Nintendo and Wii
Katy Perry earns a platinum disk for truelove composer Sandy Vee with her song Firework
Sandy composed the music to Firework in collaboration with Stargate. The record peaked at number 3 in the official UK chart and remained in the top 75 for more than 30 weeks.

Sex and the City is an American cable television and film series. The original run of the show was broadcast on HBO from 1998 until 2004, for a total of ninety-four episodes. The very final episode “An American Girl In Paris (Part Deux)” featured You Got The Love (Now Voyager Mix) produced mixed and co-written by John Truelove. The song was used for a massive two and half minutes as the background for the closing scenes and final credits The show was primarily filmed at New York City’s Silvercup Studios and on location in and around Manhattan. Since it ended, the show has been aired in syndication on networks such as TBS, WGN, and many other local stations. However, basic cable outlets at local stations excise certain explicit show content that was broadcast in the original version. In 2007 it was listed as one of Time magazine’s “100 Best TV Shows of All-TIME.”
